Veena B Kannan, A concert, demo and workshop

 

Veena Kannan [http://www.padmadance.com/nrithyodaya/kannan.htm] has a a flair for a few instruments but his serious training has been in the veena. He graduated under Gurus  Vasantha Krishnamurthy and Pichumani Iyer. He also underwent advanced training in "Raga rendering" under the musical genius and Veena maestro Dr. S. Balachander.

Masterclass by Ms S. Sowmya (carnatic music)

ONLY on 30 may, 9am - 6pm with a one hour lunch break from 1 - 2 pm. 

This ONE day workshop with be held on the 30th of May 2013 ONLY.

This class will cater for dancers who wish to revitalize and revisit their foundations and for those who are continuing dance after a long break.

Calling all enthusiastic dancers: 

The SIFAS ALUMNI is proud to present a special Bharathanatyam workshop conducted by Maestro Prof A.Janardhanan, Former Principal and Prof. Emeritus of Kalakshetra, and an eminent Bharathanatyam dancer.

Date and Time:
Sunday, 3rd October 2010 and Tuesday, 5th October 2010

3 Oct- 9.30am to 12.30pm (dance)
- 2.00 to 3.00pm (nattuvangam, each nattuvangam set can be purchased at SGD18)

5 Oct - 7 to 10pm

S$50.00 per workshop for Alumni members (SIFAS graduates)

Additional Information on Maestro Janardhanan
• Former Principal and Prof. Emeritus, Kalakshertra
• Bharatanatyam and Kathakali maestro.
• One of Guru Rukmini Devi Arundale's principal repertory dancers.
• One of the few remaining representatives of the Kallarikoda style of Kathakali.
• Brought to Kalakshetra as a young boy, when his father Chandu Panikkar Asan was heading the Kathakali department
• Grew up to become not only a lead performer and popular teacher but also right-hand man to Rukmini Devi — "Athai" to all her students.
• Now retired from Kalakshetra and teaching privately in Chennai.
• Published a book called Navarasas


Prof. Janardhanan will be teaching an item over the workshop’s course. Exact details will be provided upon confirmation.
