Veena B Kannan, A concert, demo and workshop

 

Veena Kannan [http://www.padmadance.com/nrithyodaya/kannan.htm] has a a flair for a few instruments but his serious training has been in the veena. He graduated under Gurus  Vasantha Krishnamurthy and Pichumani Iyer. He also underwent advanced training in "Raga rendering" under the musical genius and Veena maestro Dr. S. Balachander.

Dear Alumni Members,

Our landmark orchestral production was met with much success thanks to the efforts of the wonderful team that put this event together. After two years, we are now looking forward to a new leadership and for more of our members to become involved in the organisation and running of future events. 

The bi-annual election of the SIFAS Alumni Committee is therefore scheduled to take place at SIFAS on 01 June 2013 at 5 pm. (Details of venue TBC)

The Alumni Committee is consisted of these following members. 

Once elected, this committee will be effective for a period of 2 years.

Joint Tribute to Lalgudi Sri G. Jayaraman

Top Indian Art Organisations in Singapore come together for the first time to honor, remember and celebrate the lifetime inspiring moments of the Late Padma Vibushan Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman.

The Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society, together with Renowned Art Organisations; Alapana Arts, Apasaras Arts, Bhaskar's Arts Academy and Temple Of Fine Arts pay homage to the Carnatic Music Legend - Violin Maestro Padma Vibushan, Late Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman.

Following the Tribute meet, we will enjoy some of his memorable musical moments, through the enchanting vocal of Ms Chitra Poornima Sathish, disciple of Carnatic Vocalist Bombay Jayashri (disciple of violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman and Academy Award nominated music composer)

Masterclass by Ms S. Sowmya (carnatic music)

ONLY on 30 may, 9am - 6pm with a one hour lunch break from 1 - 2 pm. 

This ONE day workshop with be held on the 30th of May 2013 ONLY.

• 9 am - 6 pm ( lunch break from 1-2 pm)

• Lunch and 2 teas will be provided

• Venue: SIFAS

FREE admittance ONLY to SIFAS students, Alumni & graduates.

Max intake: 25 students but registration may start closing at 20.

Deadline for registration: 15 May 2013. Acceptance on a 1st come, 1st served basis.
